Júlio Catarinense showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alonzo Ortzi in the 19th minute of the match. With a little luck, REAL VASCO RIO's Júlio Catarinense got control of the ball when Jimeno Pitin tried to sneak it across the goal line. Caco de Souza's late challenge caught a Celtic FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Caco de Souza helped the player get up and apologised. Angelo Tande was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 68 minutes into the match. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 67th minute of the game. One of REAL VASCO RIO:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Celtic FC:s goal. Léo Pitta blasted a shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Robustiano Eyague having to make a save. After some careless play in the Celtic FC defense, Alfredo Fernandes kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Robustiano Eyague. The Celtic FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Robustiano Eyague should have stopped the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alfredo Fernandes in the 82nd minute of play forced Celtic FC's goalkeeper Robustiano Eyague to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 82nd match minute, Celtic FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Anacleto Ipar to maneuver through the defense.
