Catugi FC's Dudu Borges got a good chance for a goal in the 7th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Reko Nybacka made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luizinho Tepedino in the 11th minute of play. In the 17th minute, Dudu Borges got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 19 minutes into the match, Catugi FC's goal looked a bit too open when Luizinho Tepedino came free, but Reko Nybacka reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Oscar Bastos fell near the penalty area in the 20th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Catugi FC's protests and gave Oscar Bastos a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, A A Arizona's Juvenal Proença got a free kick in the 23rd minute. 24 minutes into the match, Hudson Leão had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Evandro Paulista. After 44 minutes, Hudson Leão mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Catugi FC and the A A Arizona players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of A A Arizona booed when Catugi FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hudson Leão didn't get a good kick on the ball. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Federico Ramone was the one to do the kick off. After having played for 51 minutes, Dudu Borges managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Catugi FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dudu Borges was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 53rd minute, Oscar Bastos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Reko Nybacka showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Inácio Perez, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute. Hudson Leão could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 61st minute of the match, but Evandro Paulista made a huge save. After 63 played minutes A A Arizona got a freekick which was hit by Telmo Esteves. Benedito Medeiros shot from long distance in the 64th minute, but Evandro Paulista was prepared and stopped the ball at the left post. 67 minutes into the game, A A Arizona's Federico Ramone nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Reko Nybacka made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. Evandro Paulista made a fantastic save in the 71st minute, when Hudson Leão sent off a good shot on target. Reko Nybacka took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jorge Ramos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alfredo Lopes in the 75th minute of play forced Catugi FC's goalkeeper Reko Nybacka to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Reko Nybacka took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luizinho Tepedino, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Reko Nybacka stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Alfredo Lopes's shot from short distance in the 84th minute. A A Arizona were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
