Povratnici's Višeslav Berend proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 3rd minute of the match, managed to save Povratnici from getting a goal against them. With 5 minutes on the clock, Bebeto Senna commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. After 4 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Vasco Mineiro FC! Fran Davidović walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. Povratnici's Marin Matošin got a good chance for a goal in the 11th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marin Matošin in the 13th minute of play forced Vasco Mineiro FC's goalkeeper Marcelo Vidal to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 14 minutes into the match, Vasco Mineiro FC's goal looked a bit too open when Marin Matošin came free, but Marcelo Vidal reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to Vasco Mineiro FC getting a freekick after 17 minutes play. Antônio Nascimento hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in Vasco Mineiro FC's zone, Andrej Palković stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Marcelo Vidal came out of the goal and Andrej Palković tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Marcelo Vidal showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Marin Matošin in the 20th minute of the match. Marin Matošin took the ball and in the 22 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Marcelo Vidal. Marcelo Vidal dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Vasco Mineiro FC's Marcelo Vidal played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marin Matošin in the 27th minute of play. After 29 minutes of play, Povratnici's Andrej Palković made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Marcelo Vidal was left in no man's land by his defense there! Vasco Mineiro FC's Marcelo Vidal played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Andrej Palković in the 31st minute of play. Andrej Palković kicked well hit freekick during the 33rd minute of the match. Andrej Palković struck a weak shot in the 34th minute. Marcelo Vidal didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Povratnici. If Joel Furlan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Marin Matošin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

The wind increased when Andrej Palković made the kick off in the second half. Andrej Palković scored 0-3 in the 53rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Marcelo Vidal, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 57th minute, Marin Matošin left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Povratnici fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-4. After having played for 72 minutes, Andrej Palković managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Povratnici's supporters crossed their fingers, but Andrej Palković was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Andrej Palković fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marcelo Vidal having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 79th minute, Andrej Palković managed to get in a good position for a shot. Povratnici's supporters rose to their feet, but Andrej Palković was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Marcelo Vidal breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Marcelo Vidal made a fantastic save in the 83rd minute, when Marin Matošin sent off a good shot on target. Andrej Palković received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 85th minute. Marcelo Vidal tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 87 minutes into the match, Marin Matošin had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Marcelo Vidal. Vasco Mineiro FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Marin Matošin was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-5. After some careless play in the Vasco Mineiro FC defense, Marin Matošin kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Marcelo Vidal. The Vasco Mineiro FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Marcelo Vidal should have stopped the shot. The Vasco Mineiro FC fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Povratnici were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
