An unexpectedly hard shot by Higinio Tximitx in the 17th minute of play forced Sporting de Gijón's goalkeeper Aquilino Oliviero to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Amador Harriet was shown his second yellow card after 19 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. Higinio Tximitx scored 0-1 in the 75th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Aquilino Oliviero, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 85th match minute, Sporting de Gijón was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ezequiel Fernández to maneuver through the defense. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. MDQ Raptors FC walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
