The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 3 minutes into the match, Shane Smiley notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of AFC United's Cisco Rubial. Cisco Rubial was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. When Ty Boyce fell near the penalty area in the 5th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Racing Miami Futbol Club's protests and gave Ty Boyce a yellow card for diving instead. In the 5th match minute, Racing Miami Futbol Club was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ty Boyce to maneuver through the defense. In the 12th match minute, Racing Miami Futbol Club was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Phil Vine to maneuver through the defense. Ian Chapui showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Egun Galan in the 18th minute of the match. AFC United were awarded a corner in the 19th minute after Racing Miami Futbol Club's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Egun Galan took the corner. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Keenan Worthington in the 31st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Cisco Rubial prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Egun Galan's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 39thth minute, Ian Chapui skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Ian Chapui made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Edwin Smith in the 41st minute of play. Balesio Leiva kicked well hit freekick during the 46th minute of the match. Keenan Worthington, 47 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Racing Miami Futbol Club's Chu Zheng Yu was substituted for D.J. Hankins.

The wind increased when Shane Smiley made the kick off in the second half. The audience was convinced that Archibaldo Ahumada's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ian Chapui was relentless in the 75th minute of the game.
