The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 5 minutes into the game, Stellan Danielsson cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Ivan Västlund showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Per Stigsson, who was totally free with the ball in the 10th minute. Sören Termander made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gustaf Fernström in the 12th minute of play. In the 35th minute, Andreas Bollström ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Sören Termander was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-3. Stellan Danielsson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After some careless play in the Gunnarsbyn defense, Hannes Lundin kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Sören Termander. The Gunnarsbyn fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Sören Termander should have stopped the shot. If Leif Söderberg had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Disappointed in the 0-4 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Per Stigsson to strike the kick off in the second half. After 58 minutes of play, Gunnarsbyn's Leif Söderberg made it 1-4 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Ivan Västlund was left in no man's land by his defense there! Ivan Västlund showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Urban Ahlberg in the 63rd minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gustaf Fernström in the 65th minute of play forced Gunnarsbyn's goalkeeper Sören Termander to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ivan Västlund took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Leif Söderberg, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Gustaf Fernström blasted a shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Sören Termander having to make a save. After 77 played minutes Gunnarsbyn got a freekick which was hit by Sven-Olof Bergkvist. 81 minutes into the match, Leif Söderberg had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Ivan Västlund. Papilio's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Leif Söderberg was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-4. An unexpectedly hard shot by Leif Söderberg in the 88th minute of play forced Papilio's goalkeeper Ivan Västlund to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gunnarsbyn's defense didn't have a chance, in the 96th minute, when Stellan Danielsson scored to the left of an out of position Sören Termander, making the score, 2-5. Papilio's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
