The crowd rose to their feet as Los Gallos's Alan Gorria slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Arnulfo Kinsen. That made the score 1-0 after 23 minutes of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Mario Alberto Kempes in the 28th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jiří Kiss prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 31 minutes into the match, Los Gallos's goal looked a bit too open when Mario Alberto Kempes came free, but Jiří Kiss reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Laurita FC's Mario Alberto Kempes got a good chance for a goal in the 41st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Mario Alberto Kempes might have been able to make a better finish in the 44th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jiří Kiss. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Mario Alberto Kempes ran back to his position shaking his head. Jiří Kiss made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mario Alberto Kempes in the 44th minute of play. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Alan Gorria to make the kick off.
