An unexpectedly hard shot by Carlo Darrigrande in the 28th minute of play forced Angola's goalkeeper Pompílio Rebello to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Angola's Pompílio Rebello played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ervigio Ojeda in the 31st minute of play. 33 minutes into the match, Angola's goal looked a bit too open when Ervigio Ojeda came free, but Pompílio Rebello reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 42nd play minutes Ervigio Ojeda shot 0-2, a short shot which went by Pompílio Rebello and just under the crossbar into goal. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

The wind increased when Edmundo Fontão made the kick off in the second half. After 51 played minutes Chile got a freekick which was hit by Filomeno Olivos. Angola's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Ervigio Ojeda was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-4. Chile's Rubén Martínez was substituted for Ervigio Ojeda. In the 66th minute, Chile's Thomas Cochrane dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-5. Angola were furious when Fábio Odemira was red carded, 68 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. In the 68th minute, one of Angola:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Angola. When the match had been going on for 70 minutes, Chile's Eren Jaeger got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Pompílio Rebello. Angola's Pompílio Rebello played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Thomas Cochrane in the 81st minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Rubén Martínez got free with Pompílio Rebello in the 82nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After a rather tough play, Chile's Alfonso Goicoechea got a free kick in the 83rd minute. Marcelo Curvelo might have been able to make a better finish in the 84th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Darío Friederichs. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Pompílio Rebello was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Thomas Cochrane showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 0-8 in the 85 minute of play. When the match had gone on for 90 minutes, Rubén Martínez put it in 0-9 from a short distance just to the right of Pompílio Rebello.
