After a rather tough play, Manuel EC's Washington Maranhense got a free kick in the 18th minute. In the 21st minute, Edmundo Magalhães ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Geovânio Veiga was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ciro Ortiz during the 25th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 25 played minutes Catingal SS got a freekick which was hit by Ciro Ortiz. Manuel EC's Geovânio Veiga played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edmundo Magalhães in the 27th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 28th minute, Nicolas Tepedino managed to get in a good position for a shot. Catingal SS's supporters rose to their feet, but Nicolas Tepedino was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Geovânio Veiga breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Edmundo Magalhães came up free with the goalie in the 30th minute, the Catingal SS fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Edmundo Magalhães couldn't finish the play. If Nicolas Tepedino had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Catingal SS getting a freekick after 33 minutes play. Ademar Velloso hit a great ball. Manuel EC's Geovânio Veiga played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edmundo Magalhães in the 37th minute of play. Nicolas Tepedino recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 38th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Valério Meirelles kicked well hit freekick during the 41st minute of the match. After having played for 44 minutes, Nicolas Tepedino managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Catingal SS's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nicolas Tepedino was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

After having played for 52 minutes, Tadeu Rosado managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Manuel EC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tadeu Rosado was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Edmundo Magalhães kicked well hit freekick during the 54th minute of the match. In the 58th minute Nicolas Tepedino shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Geovânio Veiga saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 61st minute, Edmundo Magalhães got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 62nd minute, Edmundo Magalhães made a precise shot to the right of Geovânio Veiga. Manuel EC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-3. 65 minutes into the game, Nicolas Tepedino was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Catingal SS's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Manuel EC the free kick. After 68 minutes, Erivaldo de Amorim mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Catingal SS and the Manuel EC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Frédson Alvarenga took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tadeu Rosado, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Geovânio Veiga made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nicolas Tepedino in the 92nd minute of play. Ciro Ortiz was shown his second yellow card after 94 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match.
