In the 7th match minute, Guayanazes SS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Josef Christoffersson to maneuver through the defense. A hard shot 8 in the game by Horácio Paiva from a close distance when the talented Gernando Barbosa managed to make a qualified save. Guayanazes SS's players were relieved. When Edinho Mendes fell near the penalty area in the 16th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Herreria's protests and gave Edinho Mendes a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Herreria getting a freekick after 16 minutes play. Edinho Mendes hit a great ball. Walmyr Pontes charged in rather forcefully in the 19th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Walmyr Pontes the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The audience was convinced that Maurício Mangueira's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Fred Nascimento was relentless in the 25th minute of the game. In the 32nd minute, Horácio Paiva got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a rather tough play, Guayanazes SS's André da Rocha got a free kick in the 33rd minute. In the 39th minute, Dadá de Castro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Edinho Mendes to strike the kick off in the second half. If Basílio Vasconcelos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Maurício Mangueira might have been able to make a better finish in the 53rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Fred Nascimento. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Maurício Mangueira ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 53rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Herreria's goalkeeper Fred Nascimento, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Olgierd Rosen blasted a shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Fred Nascimento having to make a save. Basílio Vasconcelos received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. Fred Nascimento tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Maurício Mangueira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fred Nascimento having to interfere. Guayanazes SS's Gernando Barbosa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Horácio Paiva in the 63rd minute of play. After a rather tough play, Herreria's Sílvio Luiz de Amaral got a free kick in the 65th minute. In the 71st minute, Olgierd Rosen ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Fred Nascimento was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. Olgierd Rosen received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 74th minute. Fred Nascimento tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 75 minutes, Maurício Mangueira managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Guayanazes SS's supporters crossed their fingers, but Maurício Mangueira was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Edinho Mendes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Horácio Paiva recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 79th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. André da Rocha fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fred Nascimento having to interfere. In the 83rd minute, Maurício Mangueira got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Maurício Mangueira got free with Fred Nascimento in the 95th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 96 minutes into the match, Guayanazes SS's goal looked a bit too open when Edinho Mendes came free, but Gernando Barbosa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
