Gonçalo Gaspar fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Anderson dos Santos having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nilmar Mandrak in the 15th minute of play forced Cabacas AD's goalkeeper Nilson Luz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 20 minutes into the match, Anselmos's goalkeeper Anderson dos Santos had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Fiori Freire. If Álvaro Macedo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Nilson Luz made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. After the first half Anselmos were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Nilmar Mandrak to make the kick off. 51 minutes into the game, Manfredo Diniz was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Cabacas AD's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Anselmos the free kick. The supporters of Anselmos booed when Cabacas AD was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Manfredo Diniz didn't get a good kick on the ball. 55 minutes into the match, Álvaro Macedo had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Nilson Luz. After 63 played minutes Cabacas AD got a freekick which was hit by Angelo Neves. Fiori Freire sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Cabacas AD's Nilson Luz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nilmar Mandrak in the 71st minute of play. Matías Neves kicked well hit freekick during the 73rd minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 90th minute, Álvaro Macedo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Anselmos's supporters rose to their feet, but Álvaro Macedo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Nilson Luz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 95th minute the ball was on its way in behind Cabacas AD's goalkeeper Nilson Luz, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Anselmos's Álvaro Macedo got a good chance for a goal in the 97th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.
