Joinville Esporte Clube's Betinho Lucas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Walmir Fernandes in the 7th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cléber Peixoto in the 11th minute of play forced Sebo de Ovelha MZC's goalkeeper Oswaldo Brodel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 13 minutes into the game, Joinville Esporte Clube's Roger Tavares nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Oswaldo Brodel made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. If Roger Tavares had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 31st minute Charles Catarinense shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Betinho Lucas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 34th match minute, Joinville Esporte Clube was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Afonsinho Costa to maneuver through the defense. After a rather tough play, Joinville Esporte Clube's Cléber Peixoto got a free kick in the 37th minute. In the 39th minute Cléber Peixoto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Oswaldo Brodel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Albertinho Félix hit a great freekick 40 minutes into the match. In the 42nd minute of the match Joinville Esporte Clube got a corner. Sebo de Ovelha MZC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Roger Tavares ran over to the corner to take the kick. Jairo Rezende's late challenge caught a Joinville Esporte Clube's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jairo Rezende helped the player get up and apologised. In the 48th minute, Jairo Rezende hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Romário Ramalho kicked well hit freekick during the 51st minute of the match. Oswaldo Brodel was a little too slow when Severino Santos got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 55th minute. The score was now 0-2. Cléber Peixotos short, quick shot in the 62ndth minute got Oswaldo Brodel to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Oswaldo Brodel made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cléber Peixoto in the 64th minute. In the 65th minute of the match, Cléber Peixoto got a very nice opportunity to score, but Oswaldo Brodel was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Oswaldo Brodel was a little too slow when Romário Ramalho got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 67th minute. The score was now 0-3. After a rather tough play, Joinville Esporte Clube's Antônio Carlos Sarmento got a free kick in the 72nd minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Walmir Fernandes during the 77th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Joinville Esporte Clube made a substitution. A wasted opportunity for Joinville Esporte Clube. The audience was convinced that Roger Tavares's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Oswaldo Brodel was relentless in the 86th minute of the game. In the 88th minute Roger Tavares shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Oswaldo Brodel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Severino Santos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the final whistle sounded Joinville Esporte Clube left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Sebo de Ovelha MZC.
