The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Hermínio Sabóia kicked well hit freekick during the 2nd minute of the match. Gabriel Messias dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. After a defensive mix-up in Ajacio SC's zone, Abelardo Montenegro stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gabriel Messias came out of the goal and Abelardo Montenegro tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of Marruas SC booed when Ajacio SC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Zézinho Peres didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 22 minutes, Edson Ortiz mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Ajacio SC and the Marruas SC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 22 played minutes Ajacio SC got a freekick which was hit by Edson Ortiz. Luís Paulo Sena fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gabriel Messias having to interfere. Abelardo Montenegro recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 27th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Abelardo Montenegro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 31st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 39 minutes into the game, Luís Paulo Sena was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Marruas SC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ajacio SC the free kick. In the 42nd minute Luís Paulo Sena shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gabriel Messias saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The wind increased when Artur de Barros made the kick off in the second half. 54 minutes into the game, Narciso Cardoso was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ajacio SC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Marruas SC the free kick. In the 53rd minute, one of Ajacio SC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Ajacio SC. Ajacio SC's Gabriel Messias proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 58th minute of the match, managed to save Ajacio SC from getting a goal against them. Laerte Neiva kicked well hit freekick during the 62nd minute of the match. When Nilton Paraibano fell near the penalty area in the 75th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ajacio SC's protests and gave Nilton Paraibano a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Ajacio SC's Nilton Paraibano got a free kick in the 76th minute. Hermínio Sabóia charged in rather forcefully in the 78th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Hermínio Sabóia the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Marruas SC getting a freekick after 78 minutes play. Hermínio Sabóia hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Artur de Barros in the 82nd minute of play forced Marruas SC's goalkeeper João Augusto Guerra to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Abelardo Montenegro struck a weak shot in the 86th minute. Gabriel Messias didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Marruas SC. Hermínio Sabóia was shown his second yellow card after 95 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. Marruas SC's João Augusto Guerra played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Artur de Barros in the 99th minute of play. The Ajacio SC supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Marruas SC's performance. The match ended with a win for Marruas SC.
