But to his dismay, Luiz Eduardo Gonçalves quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. When Zé Vides fell near the penalty area in the 23rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Sucuarana Futebol Clube's protests and gave Zé Vides a yellow card for diving instead. When Serrania's Luiz Eduardo Gonçalves in 38 game minutes managed to cut through with the ball in front of the goal, only having to shoot. André Luís Maia guarding the goal like a pit bull was extremely focused and managed to reach the ball just by the crossbar before it went in. Serrania's Eugen Coidum played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Virgílio Queiroz in the 41st minute of play. André Luís Maia took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Zézinho da Silva, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Eugen Coidum made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luiz Fábio Carioca in the 46th minute of play. After the first half Serrania were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Luiz Eduardo Gonçalves made a kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Oséias Leão in the 54th minute of play forced Serrania's goalkeeper Eugen Coidum to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. André Luís Maia made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luiz Eduardo Gonçalves in the 58th minute of play. If Luiz Eduardo Gonçalves had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Luiz Eduardo Gonçalves in the 63rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg André Luís Maia saved Sucuarana Futebol Clube from getting behind. 64 minutes into the match, Serrania's goal looked a bit too open when Luiz Fábio Carioca came free, but Eugen Coidum reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 71st minute Luiz Eduardo Gonçalves shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but André Luís Maia saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Luiz Eduardo Gonçalves couldn't finish the play. 77 minutes into the game, Joélson Cosme was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Sucuarana Futebol Clube's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Serrania the free kick. After 77 played minutes Sucuarana Futebol Clube got a freekick which was hit by Joélson Cosme. In the 86th minute Luiz Eduardo Gonçalves shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but André Luís Maia saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Luiz Eduardo Gonçalves sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Serrania's Aleandro Velasco got a good chance for a goal in the 90th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.
