The audience thought a goal was coming when Delfim Tavares got free with Dênis Pimenta in the 12th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Dênis Pimenta made an important save on a dangerous shot by Delfim Tavares in the 13th minute. 15 minutes into the match, Janari's Zézinho Valadares sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that 马冰皓 narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Delfim Tavares came free with the goalkeeper in the 18th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Dênis Pimenta could save by the left post. 马冰皓 made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Zézinho Valadares in the 21st minute of play. Zézinho Valadares received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 23rd minute. 马冰皓 tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in SC Vila Maria's zone, Jefferson Sampaio stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. 马冰皓 came out of the goal and Jefferson Sampaio tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Zézinho Valadares in the 38th minute of play forced SC Vila Maria's goalkeeper 马冰皓 to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 39 played minutes Janari got a freekick which was hit by Rogério Simão. SC Vila Maria's Delfim Tavares got a good chance for a goal in the 40th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Zézinho Valadares in the 43rd minute of play forced SC Vila Maria's goalkeeper 马冰皓 to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Jefferson Sampaio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Olavo Brito to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd match minute, Janari was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Zézinho Valadares to maneuver through the defense. 54 minutes into the game, SC Vila Maria's Delfim Tavares nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Dênis Pimenta made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. If Zézinho Valadares had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 63rd minute, Waldir Damião hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Carlos Fernando Motta was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 64th minute. Janari's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Jefferson Sampaio recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 69th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a rather tough play, Janari's Joel Quirino got a free kick in the 72nd minute. 76 minutes into the match, Janari's goal looked a bit too open when Albertinho Pernambucano came free, but Dênis Pimenta reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Dênis Pimenta didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Olavo Brito went, in the 78th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-0 was the resulting score. Delfim Tavares received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 88th minute. Dênis Pimenta tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 93rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Janari's goalkeeper Dênis Pimenta, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When the referee blew the final whistle, SC Vila Maria could leave the field as winners, despite Janari having more of the ball for most of the match.
