SE Palmeiras's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Matelandia the free kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Yan Terra in the 40th minute of play forced SE Palmeiras's goalkeeper Emerson Linhares to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

In the 68th minute of the match Vágner Antunes shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Silas Pena showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. The supporters of Matelandia booed when SE Palmeiras was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 73 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jarbas de Sena didn't get a good kick on the ball. Haroldo Veiga's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 74thth minute, Emerson Linhares skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Emerson Linhares showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Yan Terra in the 80th minute of the match. The crowd rose to their feet as Haroldo Veiga kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Emerson Linhares. That made the score 0-4 in the 81 minute of play. Emerson Linhares made an important save on a dangerous shot by Haroldo Veiga in the 89th minute. After having played for 91 minutes, Haroldo Veiga managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Matelandia's supporters crossed their fingers, but Haroldo Veiga was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When the match was over Matelandia could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than SE Palmeiras throughout the match.
