If Kiko Penha had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in CiaNorte-Paraná's zone, Jaime Leme stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ulysses Mineiro came out of the goal and Jaime Leme tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When the match clock showed 21 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Kiko Penha sped through CiaNorte-Paraná's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Ulysses Mineiro. Kiko Penha received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Ulysses Mineiro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 35 minutes, Reynaldo Varela managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Grêmio B's supporters crossed their fingers, but Reynaldo Varela was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 38th minute, Kiko Penha managed to get in a good position for a shot. Grêmio B's supporters rose to their feet, but Kiko Penha was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ulysses Mineiro breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a defensive mix-up in CiaNorte-Paraná's zone, Jaime Leme stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ulysses Mineiro came out of the goal and Jaime Leme tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. CiaNorte-Paraná's Ulysses Mineiro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kiko Penha in the 44th minute of play. In the 47th minute of the match Mazinho Cavalcante shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Ulysses Mineiro showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

53 minutes into the match, Grêmio B's goal looked a bit too open when Márcio Gonçalves came free, but Walmyr Reis reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Sidnei Moreno had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 76 minutes, Kiko Penha managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Kiko Penha might have been able to make a better finish in the 84th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ulysses Mineiro. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Kiko Penha ran back to his position shaking his head. CiaNorte-Paraná's Ulysses Mineiro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kiko Penha in the 86th minute of play. If Kiko Penha had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Kiko Penha struck a weak shot in the 94th minute. Ulysses Mineiro didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Grêmio B. In the 96th minute, Alexandre Medeiros left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The CiaNorte-Paraná fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-1. When the referee blew the final whistle, CiaNorte-Paraná could leave the field as winners, despite Grêmio B having more of the ball for most of the match.
