The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After having played for 8 minutes, Luisinho Garcia managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Hermínio Duarte tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 13 minutes into the match, Olívio Arósio notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Taparuba's Hermínio Duarte. Hermínio Duarte was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Hermínio Duarte took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Almir Capixaba, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Dida Teles took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 36th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Alex Simões. maninhos-ms's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. maninhos-ms's Alex Simões played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Antônio Carlos Cardoso in the 59th minute of play. Alex Simões showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Antônio Carlos Cardoso, who was totally free with the ball in the 65th minute. Almir Capixaba fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hermínio Duarte having to interfere. 71 minutes into the match, maninhos-ms's goal looked a bit too open when Luisinho Garcia came free, but Alex Simões reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Antônio Carlos Cardoso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luisinho Garcia in the 76th minute of play forced maninhos-ms's goalkeeper Alex Simões to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a defensive mix-up in maninhos-ms's zone, Antônio Carlos Cardoso stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Alex Simões came out of the goal and Antônio Carlos Cardoso tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Gilberto do Valle hit a great freekick 79 minutes into the match. Hermínio Duarte made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Olívio Arósio in the 89th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 91st minute, Almir Capixaba managed to get in a good position for a shot. maninhos-ms's supporters rose to their feet, but Almir Capixaba was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Hermínio Duarte breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
