With a little luck, Colatina's Leonel Peixoto got control of the ball when Wilson Baptista tried to sneak it across the goal line. Júlio Luz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Norberto Cordeiro in the 6th minute of the match. Thanks to some nice moves Jeremias Maia could shoot a difficult shot in the 8th minute, which Leonel Peixoto however easily saved by the left post. Júlio Luz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sérgio Leal, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Norberto Cordeiro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 10th minute. Júlio Luz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Túlio Matorin's late challenge caught a Colatina's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Túlio Matorin helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Piedade FC's Túlio Matorin got a free kick in the 11th minute. The audience was convinced that Sérgio Leal's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Júlio Luz was relentless in the 20th minute of the game. In the 21st minute, César Teles hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Mané Chaves sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 24thth minute of the game Sérgio Leal who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Piedade FC's Júlio Luz was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 31st minute, Norberto Cordeiro managed to get in a good position for a shot. Colatina's supporters rose to their feet, but Norberto Cordeiro was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Júlio Luz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. André Luiz Prestes took the ball and in the 34 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Júlio Luz. Júlio Luz dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. Sérgio Leal received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. Júlio Luz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Norberto Cordeiro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Sérgio Leal stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 51st match minute, Piedade FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dionísio Lago to maneuver through the defense. Alexandre Fernandes could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 53rd minute of the match, but Júlio Luz made a huge save. Cristian Matorin was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 56 minutes into the match. After 56 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Colatina! Colatina:s Leonel Peixoto showed great skill when he stopped Nando Cordeiro:s penalty. After having played for 65 minutes, Norberto Cordeiro managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Colatina's supporters crossed their fingers, but Norberto Cordeiro was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Mané Chaves recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 75th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Piedade FC's zone, Chico Fernandes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Júlio Luz came out of the goal and Chico Fernandes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 78th minute, Colatina's Alexandre Fernandes dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-4. Norberto Cordeiro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 83rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 84 minutes into the game, Dé Lima was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Colatina's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Piedade FC the free kick. In the 84th match minute, Colatina was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dé Lima to maneuver through the defense. Jeremias Maia blasted a shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Leonel Peixoto having to make a save. In the 88th minute, Túlio Matorin hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Alexandre Fernandes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
