Christiano Tavares made a fantastic save in the 3rd minute, when Sílvio Luís Cunha sent off a good shot on target. Antônio Carlos Breckenfeld received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 4th minute. Deivid Ferreira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Tomás Soares hit a great freekick 7 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in Upatininga FC's zone, Sílvio Luís Cunha stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Christiano Tavares came out of the goal and Sílvio Luís Cunha tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Juan Soeiro in the 11th minute of play forced Upatininga FC's goalkeeper Christiano Tavares to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 16th match minute, Zemantauskas was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sidney Garcia to maneuver through the defense. In the 18th match minute, Zemantauskas was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Romário Neiva to maneuver through the defense. The crowd rose to their feet as Juan Soeiro kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Christiano Tavares. That made the score 1-0 in the 21 minute of play. When Juan Soeiro came up free with the goalie in the 25th minute, the Zemantauskas fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Juan Soeiro couldn't finish the play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Sílvio Luís Cunha got free with Christiano Tavares in the 26th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 31st minute of the match Leonel Nóbrega sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Deivid Ferreira skillfully saved the ball. Joélson Castro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Deivid Ferreira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 39th minute, Joélson Castro managed to get in a good position for a shot. Upatininga FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Joélson Castro was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Deivid Ferreira breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Juan Soeiro stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Antônio Carlos Breckenfeld fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Deivid Ferreira having to interfere. Christiano Tavares took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Juan Soeiro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Joélson Castro recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 59th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 60th minute, Antônio Carlos Breckenfeld got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. With a little luck, Zemantauskas's Deivid Ferreira got control of the ball when Joélson Castro tried to sneak it across the goal line. Sílvio Luís Cunha recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 72nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Christiano Tavares showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Juan Soeiro in the 74th minute of the match. In the 80th minute, Zemantauskas's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Joélson Castro fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Upatininga FC's Joélson Castro got a good chance for a goal in the 84th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Upatininga FC's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
