Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Kauã Ferreira took the kick off in the first half of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Vasco da Gama™'s zone, Kauã Ferreira stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Elder Neiva came out of the goal and Kauã Ferreira tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 8 minutes into the match, Waldir Zanette had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Elder Neiva. Vasco da Gama™'s manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Waldir Zanette was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. Gustavo Leal hit a great freekick 12 minutes into the match. Elder Neiva was a little too slow when Kauã Ferreira got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 16th minute. The score was now 2-0. In the 19th minute Kauã Ferreira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Elder Neiva saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Elder Neiva made a fantastic save in the 20th minute, when Waldir Zanette sent off a good shot on target. A collision led to Vasco da Gama™ getting a freekick after 20 minutes play. Américo do Vale hit a great ball. In the 31st minute, Adriano Messias reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Elder Neiva. The goal made the score 4-0. Elder Neiva took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Adriano Messias, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Américo do Vale fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Juan Zonta having to interfere. 40 minutes into the game, Gustavo Leal was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Canatiba's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Vasco da Gama™ the free kick. In the 40th minute, Gustavo Leal hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Gustavo Leal hit a great freekick 42 minutes into the match. After 46 played minutes Canatiba got a freekick which was hit by Adriano Messias. When Vasco da Gama™'s Duda Linares in the 47th minute got a chance for a shot 47th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Canatiba's goalie prevented a goal. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 4-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Duda Linares to make the kick off. Elder Neiva made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kauã Ferreira in the 61st minute of play. If Edelmiro Micael had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Duda Linares fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Juan Zonta having to interfere. Silas Cearense received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 72nd minute. Juan Zonta tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A sloppy throw-in by Gustavo Leal in the 76th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Vasco da Gama™'s Simão Xavier. In the 83rd minute of the game Breno Favoretto made a throw-in which Nelson Meirelles played forward. Américo do Vale received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 84th minute. Juan Zonta tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kauã Ferreira in the 87th minute of play forced Vasco da Gama™'s goalkeeper Elder Neiva to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 89th minute, Vitório Guerra hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Elder Neiva showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kauã Ferreira in the 90th minute of the match. Juan Zonta made a fantastic save in the 91st minute, when Duda Linares sent off a good shot on target. Many of Vasco da Gama™'s supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. Vasco da Gama™ may have spent more time on the ball, but Canatiba were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
