In the 35th minute Marcel Ferreira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nelson Sá saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Percy Duarte showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Abelardo Beila in the 51st minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Marcel Ferreira in the 54th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Nelson Sá saved Cavalcanti SC from getting behind. After some careless play in the Cavalcanti SC defense, Júlio Valladares kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Nelson Sá. The Cavalcanti SC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Nelson Sá should have stopped the shot. Abelardo Beila received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. Percy Duarte tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Júlio Valladares had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Nelson Sá showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dráusio Mello in the 77th minute of the match. Corinthians's Caco de Amaral got a good chance for a goal in the 83rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Júlio Valladares fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 84th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nelson Sá having to interfere. 88 minutes into the match, Cavalcanti SC's Abelardo Beila sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Percy Duarte narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Nelson Sá made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Caco de Amaral in the 89th minute of play. If Dráusio Mello had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Corinthians fully deserved thier win.
