When Zé Paulo Queiroz came up free with the goalie in the 26th minute, the Poti AD fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Zé Paulo Queiroz couldn't finish the play. Luís Eduardo Paes took the ball and in the 33 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Luís Fernando Gaspar. Luís Fernando Gaspar dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-4. If Breno Fernandez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee felt a red card was in order, 40 minutes into the game, when Zézinho Paulista put in a rough tackle. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 40th minute of the game. One of Curumatahy EC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Poti AD:s goal. 46 minutes into the match, Curumatahy EC's Wellington Paraíba sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Luís Fernando Gaspar narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-4 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Gláuber Cruz made a kick off. Luís Eduardo Paes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luís Fernando Gaspar having to interfere. When the match had gone on for 59 minutes, Luís Eduardo Paes took a quick shot and it went in 0-5 without a chance for Luís Fernando Gaspar to make any attempt to save it. Curumatahy EC's Guilherme de Andrade played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gláuber Cruz in the 62nd minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Poti AD's zone, Luís Eduardo Paes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Luís Fernando Gaspar came out of the goal and Luís Eduardo Paes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Luís Fernando Gaspar was out of position in the 70 minute of play, and Luís Eduardo Paes capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Luís Eduardo Paes really showed his touch with that goal: 0-6. In the 73rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Poti AD's goalkeeper Luís Fernando Gaspar, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Curumatahy EC's Guilherme de Andrade played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gláuber Cruz in the 80th minute of play.
