When Guilherme Gonçalves fell near the penalty area in the 12th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ilha de Corsega FC's protests and gave Guilherme Gonçalves a yellow card for diving instead. In the 12th match minute, Ilha de Corsega FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Guilherme Gonçalves to maneuver through the defense. 16 minutes into the match, Serginho Amaral notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Ilha de Corsega FC's Carlinhos Moreno. Carlinhos Moreno was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Nildo Secco blasted a shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Carlinhos Moreno having to make a save. Carlinhos Moreno took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fausto Monteiro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Caiana booed when Ilha de Corsega FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Pedrinho Tepedino didn't get a good kick on the ball. Wiliam Veloso charged in rather forcefully in the 28th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Wiliam Veloso the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a defensive mix-up in Caiana's zone, Gustavo Leão stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ronaldão Correia came out of the goal and Gustavo Leão tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a rather tough play, Caiana's Luís Fabiano Moraes got a free kick in the 39th minute. In the 42nd minute of the match Ilha de Corsega FC got a corner. Caiana's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Amílton Chaves ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner ended in Maicon Antunes almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Caiana's Ronaldão Correia did a great save. Ronaldão Correia made an important save on a dangerous shot by Eurico Fernandes in the 44th minute. In the 46th minute Nildo Secco shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Carlinhos Moreno saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Gustavo Leão to make the kick off. A collision led to Caiana getting a freekick after 52 minutes play. Serginho Amaral hit a great ball. Amílton Chaves's shot from long distance was a real pearl which went to the right and just passed Ronaldão Correia - 1-1 was put on the score board in the 53rd minute. In the 57th minute, Gustavo Leão hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Carlinhos Moreno made an important save on a dangerous shot by Nildo Secco in the 64th minute. When Eurico Fernandes came up free with the goalie in the 67th minute, the Ilha de Corsega FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Eurico Fernandes couldn't finish the play. Fausto Monteiro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Carlinhos Moreno having to interfere. Carlinhos Moreno had great luck who in the 79thth minute grab hold of the ball when Fausto Monteiro from a short distance tried to put the ball inside the right post. In the 80th minute, Pedrinho Tepedino hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 85th minute, Nildo Secco ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Carlinhos Moreno was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-2. Pedrinho Tepedino received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 90th minute. Ronaldão Correia tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Caiana were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
