After a defensive mix-up in Garcia's zone, Anselmo Saludes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Caco Vergílio came out of the goal and Anselmo Saludes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Josué Motta hit a great freekick 38 minutes into the match. A hard shot 40 in the game by Didi Rezende from a close distance when the talented Caco Vergílio managed to make a qualified save. Garcia's players were relieved. An unexpectedly hard shot by Didi Rezende in the 44th minute of play forced Garcia's goalkeeper Caco Vergílio to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Anselmo Saludes received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Caco Vergílio came out and tried to block the shot, but Anselmo Saludes slotted it home off the left post making it 3-0 in the 46th minute. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Didi Rezende made the kick off in the second half. Anselmo Saludes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Caco Vergílio having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Garcia's Délio Leite got a free kick in the 55th minute. 65 minutes into the game, Didi Rezende cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 4-0. In the 93rd match minute, Garcia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Délio Leite to maneuver through the defense. Garcia's Caco Vergílio played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Didi Rezende in the 97th minute of play. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Tinguatiba had played much better football throughout.
