Jefferson Marques received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 12th minute. André Luís Sanches tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Zézinho dos Santos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without André Luís Sanches having to interfere. In the 21st minute Manuel Arruda shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but André Luís Sanches saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jefferson Marques kicked well hit freekick during the 24th minute of the match. The long shot by Mateus Freitas in the 25th minute really tested Ronaldinho Dracena's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. Ronaldinho Dracena made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luiz Fernando Fernandez in the 27th minute of play. If Luiz Fernando Fernandez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 30 minutes into the game, Sandrinho de Amorim was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Jardim Julia's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Carnaubas the free kick. Jardim Julia's Ronaldinho Dracena played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luiz Fernando Fernandez in the 32nd minute of play. Fausto Coutinho hit a great freekick 35 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in Jardim Julia's zone, Luiz Fernando Fernandez stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ronaldinho Dracena came out of the goal and Luiz Fernando Fernandez tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Ronaldinho Dracena stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Luiz Fernando Fernandez's shot from short distance in the 42nd minute. After having played for 47 minutes, Zézinho dos Santos managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Jardim Julia's supporters crossed their fingers, but Zézinho dos Santos was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

With an all-out effort, Jardim Julia's André Luís Sanches threw himself towards the right post 79 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Zézinho dos Santos, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Ronaldinho Dracena came out of the goal in the 81st minute to try and stop a shot by Carnaubas's Roberto Couto. But to his dismay, Roberto Couto quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. If Roberto Couto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Luiz Fernando Fernandez struck a weak shot in the 89th minute. Ronaldinho Dracena didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Carnaubas. Elder Leal charged in rather forcefully in the 92nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Elder Leal the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Elder Leal kicked well hit freekick during the 92nd minute of the match. The supporters of Jardim Julia booed when Carnaubas was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 94 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luiz Guilherme Soeiro didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jardim Julia's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
