If Sílvio dos Santos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Vila Pindense's Sílvio dos Santos got a good chance for a goal in the 12th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Demetrio Cucci took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kléberson Terra, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Demetrio Cucci came out of the goal in the 18th minute to try and stop a shot by Vila Pindense's Júnior Mangueira. But to his dismay, Júnior Mangueira quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. The supporters of Cruz de Malta F.C booed when Vila Pindense was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mazinho Cabral didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 23rd minute, Sílvio dos Santos made a precise shot to the right of Demetrio Cucci. Cruz de Malta F.C's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-3. After 26 played minutes Cruz de Malta F.C got a freekick which was hit by Fabinho Lara. An unexpectedly hard shot by Júnior Mangueira in the 32nd minute of play forced Cruz de Malta F.C's goalkeeper Demetrio Cucci to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Cruz de Malta F.C's Demetrio Cucci played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kléberson Terra in the 35th minute of play. In the 39th match minute, Cruz de Malta F.C was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rafa Trancoso to maneuver through the defense. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 42nd minute of the game. One of Cruz de Malta F.C:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Vila Pindense:s goal.

54 minutes into the game, Kléberson Terra recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Demetrio Cucci. Kléberson Terra showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-5. Kléberson Terra sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 59 minutes into the match, Cruz de Malta F.C's goalkeeper Demetrio Cucci had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Sílvio dos Santos. 61 minutes into the match, Cruz de Malta F.C's goal looked a bit too open when Kléberson Terra came free, but Demetrio Cucci reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as Sílvio dos Santos kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Demetrio Cucci. That made the score 0-6 in the 65 minute of play. In the 67th match minute, Vila Pindense was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mazinho Cabral to maneuver through the defense. Cruz de Malta F.C's Demetrio Cucci proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 72nd minute of the match, managed to save Cruz de Malta F.C from getting a goal against them. If Sílvio dos Santos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Márcio Gerber received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 77th minute. Claes Malmström tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 89th minute of the game, Vila Pindense got a penalty. The shot went straight in by the left post. Fabinho Lara kicked well hit freekick during the 94th minute of the match. In the 95th minute Kléberson Terra shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Demetrio Cucci saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The Cruz de Malta F.C supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Vila Pindense's performance. The match ended with a win for Vila Pindense.
