Tales Furlan was left in no man's land by his defense there! After a defensive mix-up in Seropedica's zone, Mazinho Donatello stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rubinho Bertassi came out of the goal and Mazinho Donatello tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Lauro Ramalho during the 11th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Seropedica's Lauro Ramalho got a free kick in the 12th minute. Mazinho Donatello sent away a hard shot on goal in the 14th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Serginho Marquez blasted a shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Rubinho Bertassi having to make a save. Mazinho Donatello came free with the goalkeeper in the 18th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Rubinho Bertassi could save by the left post. The audience thought a goal was coming when Mazinho Donatello got free with Rubinho Bertassi in the 19th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Tales Furlan stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ronaldo Paulista's shot from short distance in the 22nd minute. After having played for 31 minutes, Cafu da Cunha managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Seropedica's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cafu da Cunha was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Seropedica's zone, Mazinho Donatello stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rubinho Bertassi came out of the goal and Mazinho Donatello tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 41 minutes into the game, Mazinho Donatello cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-1. Rubinho Bertassi was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Giovani Lima struck a weak shot in the 47th minute. Rubinho Bertassi didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Atlético Maneiro FC. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

A collision led to Seropedica getting a freekick after 61 minutes play. Valério Koehler hit a great ball. Álvaro Fantini kicked well hit freekick during the 66th minute of the match. Mazinho Donatello sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Rubinho Bertassi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mazinho Donatello in the 72nd minute of play. When Mazinho Donatello came up free with the goalie in the 77th minute, the Atlético Maneiro FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Mazinho Donatello couldn't finish the play. After 82 minutes, Richard Vander mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Atlético Maneiro FC and the Seropedica players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 82nd match minute, Atlético Maneiro FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Richard Vander to maneuver through the defense. In the 89th minute the ball was on its way in behind Seropedica's goalkeeper Rubinho Bertassi, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. If Mazinho Donatello had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
