Prego's Róbson Barreto played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Benedito Romero in the 25th minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Nilson Maranhense during the 27th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Nilson Maranhense kicked well hit freekick during the 27th minute of the match. When Dedê de Brito fell near the penalty area in the 32nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Prego's protests and gave Dedê de Brito a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Swat do bairro booed when Prego was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dedê de Brito didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 35th minute of the match Swat do bairro got a corner. Prego's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. After taking down the ball on Swat do bairro's corner Luiz Guilherme Martins fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Róbson Barreto quite easily take care of the ball. Ediberto Duarte made an important save on a dangerous shot by Zé de Almeida in the 37th minute. After 40 minutes, Carlos Augusto de Moraes mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Swat do bairro and the Prego players grew even worse after the yellow card. When Ezequiel Nogueira came up free with the goalie in the 71st minute, the Prego fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ezequiel Nogueira couldn't finish the play. If Alex Chaves had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the match clock showed 77 minutes, the score became 1-1 when Benedito Romero sped through Prego's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Róbson Barreto. In the 83rd minute, Prego's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Benedito Romero fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. After having played for 85 minutes, Carlos Augusto de Moraes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal.
