In the 14th match minute, Pinto was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Emanuel Lago to maneuver through the defense. Fenix FC's Serginho Cruz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Afonsinho Soeiro in the 18th minute of play. In the 24th minute Fenix FC were awarded a corner. Ediberto Leal went to the cornerflag to take it. Oswaldo Diniz tried to clear up in front of the goal, but didn't succeed and rather the ball rolled into the own goal to the right of a despaired Duarte Saraiva. An unnecessary self made goal, 1-2 in the 24th minute. Duarte Saraiva made a fantastic save in the 28th minute, when Dário Rezende sent off a good shot on target. Gilvan Nascimento charged in rather forcefully in the 29th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Gilvan Nascimento the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Gilvan Nascimento hit a great freekick 29 minutes into the match. Serginho Cruz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Roger Paraense, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. Pinto's Roger Paraense got a good chance for a goal in the 37th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Roger Paraense in the 39th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Serginho Cruz saved Fenix FC from getting behind. After having played for 42 minutes, Roger Paraense managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Pinto's supporters crossed their fingers, but Roger Paraense was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Duarte Saraiva showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Francisco Nóbrega in the 44th minute of the match. Roger Paraense received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 48th minute. Serginho Cruz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The Fenix FC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Pinto were winning 1-2.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Afonsinho Soeiro to make the kick off. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Arthur Bezerra during the 52nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A very good chance. 74 minutes into the match, Fenix FC's goalkeeper Serginho Cruz had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Roger Paraense. The Pinto supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Pinto would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
