Valdemar das Neves scored 2-0 in the 14th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Jairo Duarte, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 17 minutes into the match, Peladeiros's Valdemar das Neves sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jairo Duarte narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 18 minutes into the game, Claudinei Valadares was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Internacional de Polvilho's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Peladeiros the free kick. Peladeiros's Manuel Moura got a good chance for a goal in the 20th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Percival Paes charged in rather forcefully in the 23rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Percival Paes the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. If Manuel Moura had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Manuel Moura in the 33rd minute of play forced Internacional de Polvilho's goalkeeper Jairo Duarte to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 35th minute, Valdemar das Neves got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Internacional de Polvilho's Jairo Duarte proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 45th minute of the match, managed to save Internacional de Polvilho from getting a goal against them. Waldemar de Sousa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Manuel Moura to make the kick off. Waldemar de Sousa could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 57th minute of the match, but Cássio Ramos made a huge save. In the 58th minute the ball was on its way in behind Peladeiros's goalkeeper Cássio Ramos, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Valdemar das Neves struck a weak shot in the 61st minute. Jairo Duarte didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Peladeiros. After having played for 63 minutes, Yuri de Moraes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Internacional de Polvilho's supporters crossed their fingers, but Yuri de Moraes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 67th match minute, Internacional de Polvilho was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Juninho Velloso to maneuver through the defense. If Valdemar das Neves had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Manuel Moura in the 71st minute of play forced Internacional de Polvilho's goalkeeper Jairo Duarte to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Peladeiros's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
