After a rather tough play, Corinthians do Interior's Paulo José Ceresso got a free kick in the 2nd minute. In the 8th minute, Dedé Tinoco got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 10 minutes into the match, Corimbata's Severino Hoffmann sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Zé Roberto Siqueira narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 14th minute Paulo José Ceresso shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jorge Meira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jorge Meira was out of position in the 16 minute of play, and Murillo Queirós capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Murillo Queirós really showed his touch with that goal: 1-1. In the 19th match minute, Corinthians do Interior was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Juninho Mangueira to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of Corimbata booed when Corinthians do Interior was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Juninho Mangueira didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 32nd minute, Severino Hoffmann got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ciro Simão in the 35th minute of play forced Corinthians do Interior's goalkeeper Zé Roberto Siqueira to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Alfredinho Valladares recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 38th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Ciro Simão received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. Zé Roberto Siqueira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Severino Hoffmann came up free with the goalie in the 41st minute, the Corimbata fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Severino Hoffmann couldn't finish the play. Zé Roberto Siqueira made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Severino Hoffmann in the 43rd minute of play. In the 45th minute the ball was on its way in behind Corinthians do Interior's goalkeeper Zé Roberto Siqueira, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Severino Hoffmann stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Severino Hoffmann fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Zé Roberto Siqueira having to interfere. Zé Roberto Siqueira showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Severino Hoffmann, who was totally free with the ball in the 54th minute. Corinthians do Interior's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Ciro Simão 55 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 1-2. When the match clock showed 61 minutes, the score became 1-3 when Severino Hoffmann sped through Corinthians do Interior's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Zé Roberto Siqueira. Zé Roberto Siqueira made a fantastic save in the 67th minute, when Severino Hoffmann sent off a good shot on target. Ciro Simão sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 71st minute, Paulo José Ceresso hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 78 minutes into the match, Paulo José Ceresso had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jorge Meira. Corimbata's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Paulo José Ceresso was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-3. Alfredinho Valladares fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jorge Meira having to interfere. If Ciro Simão had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Zé Roberto Siqueira stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Severino Hoffmann's shot from short distance in the 86th minute. The crowd rose to their feet as Corimbata's Severino Hoffmann slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Zé Roberto Siqueira. That made the score 2-4 after 88 minutes of play. After 93 minutes, Aírton Moreno mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Corinthians do Interior and the Corimbata players grew even worse after the yellow card. When the match was over Corimbata could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Corinthians do Interior throughout the match.
