The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Edu Medeiros took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Doriva Rezende, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to Aruak S.C. getting a freekick after 6 minutes play. Mazinho Albuquerque hit a great ball. 7 minutes into the match, Aruak S.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Dalmo Bueno came free, but Edu Medeiros reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 9 minutes into the match, Doriva Rezende notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Aruak S.C.'s Edu Medeiros. Edu Medeiros was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. A collision led to Aruak S.C. getting a freekick after 15 minutes play. Gerson Mangueira hit a great ball. Doriva Rezende's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Edu Medeiros read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 20th minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Erivaldo Messias during the 27th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 27th minute, Erivaldo Messias hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Edu Medeiros took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dalmo Bueno, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Dalmo Bueno took the ball and in the 30 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Edu Medeiros. Edu Medeiros dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Jonas Sá during the 33rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Aruak S.C. booed when Curitiba FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jonas Sá didn't get a good kick on the ball. A collision led to Aruak S.C. getting a freekick after 47 minutes play. Jorginho de Andrade hit a great ball. After the first half Curitiba FC were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Dalmo Bueno to make the kick off. Doriva Rezende received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 55th minute. Edu Medeiros tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 57th match minute, Curitiba FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Edu Marques to maneuver through the defense. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Dalmo Bueno in the 64th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Edu Medeiros prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 77th minute Dalmo Bueno shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Edu Medeiros saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 78th minute, Dalmo Bueno reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Edu Medeiros. The goal made the score 0-3. Doriva Rezende struck a weak shot in the 83rd minute. Edu Medeiros didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Curitiba FC. Edu Medeiros stood somewhat misplaced when Dalmo Bueno came free in front of goal and shot 0-4 to the left of him in the 86 minute. During the 89th minute of the match Luan Lira completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Luan Lira a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. In the 89th minute, Luan Lira hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 91st minute, Jorginho de Andrade got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Doriva Rezende had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Curitiba FC had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
