When Tony Porto fell near the penalty area in the 14th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Grêmio Fc's protests and gave Tony Porto a yellow card for diving instead. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 13th minute of the game. One of Grêmio Fc:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Dominguinho SC:s goal. 17 minutes into the match, Grêmio Fc's goal looked a bit too open when Sandro Vale came free, but Tomás Diniz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Dominguinho SC's Eliazar Maixenchs played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Naldo Félix in the 20th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luiz Fernando Loureiro in the 31st minute of play forced Dominguinho SC's goalkeeper Eliazar Maixenchs to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 33rd minute Décio Andrade shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eliazar Maixenchs saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 34 minutes into the match, Dominguinho SC's goal looked a bit too open when Naldo Félix came free, but Eliazar Maixenchs reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 36th minute, Jerônimo Paes managed to get in a good position for a shot. Dominguinho SC's supporters rose to their feet, but Jerônimo Paes was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Tostão Paraense hit a great freekick 39 minutes into the match. After having played for 41 minutes, Naldo Félix managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Grêmio Fc's supporters crossed their fingers, but Naldo Félix was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 43 minutes into the match, Dominguinho SC's goal looked a bit too open when Luiz Fernando Loureiro came free, but Eliazar Maixenchs reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Jerônimo Paes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Décio Andrade sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Naldo Félix stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Luiz Fernando Loureiro could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 52nd minute of the match, but Eliazar Maixenchs made a huge save. The audience thought a goal was coming when Décio Andrade got free with Eliazar Maixenchs in the 54th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. A collision led to Grêmio Fc getting a freekick after 56 minutes play. Tostão Paraense hit a great ball. Silvério Tande fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tomás Diniz having to interfere. Naldo Félix charged in rather forcefully in the 59th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Naldo Félix the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Grêmio Fc getting a freekick after 59 minutes play. Naldo Félix hit a great ball. Tomás Diniz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jerônimo Paes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 63rd minute, Waldemar Cearense hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Naldo Félix received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Eliazar Maixenchs came out and tried to block the shot, but Naldo Félix slotted it home off the left post making it 1-1 in the 65th minute. Luiz Fernando Loureiro could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 74th minute of the match, but Eliazar Maixenchs made a huge save. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Luiz Fernando Loureiro in the 74th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Eliazar Maixenchs prevented the ball from getting in the gole. A collision led to Grêmio Fc getting a freekick after 76 minutes play. Naldo Félix hit a great ball. In the 77th minute, Décio Andrade hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Dominguinho SC's zone, Luiz Fernando Loureiro stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Eliazar Maixenchs came out of the goal and Luiz Fernando Loureiro tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Décio Andrade kicked well hit freekick during the 84th minute of the match. Tomás Diniz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sandro Vale in the 86th minute of the match. The supporters of Dominguinho SC booed when Grêmio Fc was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 88 match minutes in a wonderful position. Décio Andrade didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Luiz Fernando Loureiro came up free with the goalie in the 92nd minute, the Grêmio Fc fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Luiz Fernando Loureiro couldn't finish the play. If Luisinho Trevisan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Luiz Fernando Loureiro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Despite being the better team, Grêmio Fc failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
