Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Arnaldo Saraiva started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. Basílio Mineiro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Elano Queiroz in the 4th minute of play. Valdir Braga showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Arnaldo Saraiva, who was totally free with the ball in the 6th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Lafacity's zone, Elano Queiroz stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Basílio Mineiro came out of the goal and Elano Queiroz tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Pedro Paulo Gerber during the 10th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 10 played minutes Lafacity got a freekick which was hit by Pedro Paulo Gerber. An unexpectedly hard shot by Elano Queiroz in the 15th minute of play forced Lafacity's goalkeeper Basílio Mineiro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 19th minute, Didi de Lima got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Basílio Mineiro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Didi de Lima, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. In the 26th minute Didi de Lima shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Basílio Mineiro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience was convinced that Edgard Marinho's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Basílio Mineiro was relentless in the 28th minute of the game. Didi de Lima fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Basílio Mineiro having to interfere. Lafacity's Basílio Mineiro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Elano Queiroz in the 32nd minute of play. Basílio Mineiro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Edgard Marinho in the 33rd minute of play. David Dias hit a great freekick 37 minutes into the match. In the 39th minute, Lafacity's Glauco de Queiroz ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Valdir Braga. Valdir Braga yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. Vasco Da Gama's Nildo de Mendonça got a good chance for a goal in the 43rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Basílio Mineiro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from João Francisco Dias, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Edgard Marinho to make the kick off. When the match had gone on for 55 minutes, Elano Queiroz took a quick shot and it went in 1-2 without a chance for Basílio Mineiro to make any attempt to save it. Basílio Mineiro was out of position in the 58 minute of play, and João Francisco Dias capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. João Francisco Dias really showed his touch with that goal: 1-3. The audience thought a goal was coming when Edgard Marinho got free with Basílio Mineiro in the 62nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 62nd match minute, Lafacity was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nilson Nascimento to maneuver through the defense. In the 67th minute, Vasco Da Gama's João Francisco Dias ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Basílio Mineiro. Basílio Mineiro yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-4. After some fancy dribbling in the 75th minute, João Francisco Dias managed to get in a good position for a shot. Vasco Da Gama's supporters rose to their feet, but João Francisco Dias was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Basílio Mineiro breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 78 minutes of play Lafacity's Pedro Paulo Gerber was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. A collision led to Lafacity getting a freekick after 79 minutes play. Pedro Paulo Gerber hit a great ball. João Francisco Dias sent away a hard shot on goal in the 83rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Carlos Fernando Bertassi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Vasco Da Gama's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
