Nestor Leme didn't quite understand what happened when in the 5 minute of the game managed to get a great opportunity for a goal and then missed the goal by a feet. Breno Paes succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-0 in the 8th playminute. Edson Pinheiro came out of the goal in the 13th minute to try and stop a shot by Palestra Itália's Breno Paes. But to his dismay, Breno Paes quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. After a rather tough play, Palestra Itália's Armandinho Cerezo got a free kick in the 18th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Evaristo Botelho in the 20th minute of play forced Olinda's goalkeeper Edson Pinheiro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Edson Pinheiro made a fantastic save in the 21st minute, when Evaristo Botelho sent off a good shot on target. Evaristo Botelho hit a great ball. 36 minutes into the match, Olinda's goal looked a bit too open when Cléberson Garcia came free, but Edson Pinheiro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 37 minutes into the game, Breno Paes lined in a short shot 3-0 behind a frustrated Edson Pinheiro. 40 minutes into the match, Palestra Itália's Evaristo Botelho sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Edson Pinheiro narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The audience thought a goal was coming when Evaristo Botelho got free with Edson Pinheiro in the 42nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Edson Pinheiro made an important save on a dangerous shot by Percy Tinoco in the 45th minute. When Nestor Leme came up free with the goalie in the 47th minute, the Olinda fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nestor Leme couldn't finish the play. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The wind increased when Juvenal Mesquita made the kick off in the second half. Arlindo Dias made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nestor Leme in the 52nd minute of play. Evaristo Botelho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Edson Pinheiro having to interfere. Cléberson Garcia sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Cléberson Garcia received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. Edson Pinheiro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Juvenal Mesquita fell near the penalty area in the 61st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Olinda's protests and gave Juvenal Mesquita a yellow card for diving instead. If Cléberson Garcia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. Cleiton Vargas recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 87th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Cléberson Garcia received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 88th minute. Edson Pinheiro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Nestor Leme sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
