An unexpectedly hard shot by Enrique Figueiredo in the 21st minute of play forced Afligidos's goalkeeper Tostão Alagoano to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Afligidos's Zé Roberto Aguiar got a good chance for a goal in the 26th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The Afligidos fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-0. After 35 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Maracajau EC! Artur Bueno took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Carlos Alberto Araújo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 44th match minute, Maracajau EC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Enrique Figueiredo to maneuver through the defense. If Zé Roberto Aguiar had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 49th minute of the match Luiz Fábio Branco shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Tostão Alagoano showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Zé Roberto Aguiar made a kick off. Zé Roberto Aguiar scored 4-0 in the 53rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Artur Bueno, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The nice shot from Enrique Figueiredo in the 57thth minute just in front of the goal should have ended in point on the board, but Tostão Alagoano had a great feel for the game and superbly saved the ball from getting in by the left post. In the 60th match minute, Afligidos was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Carlos Alberto Araújo to maneuver through the defense. Dário Travassos blasted a shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Artur Bueno having to make a save. Artur Bueno showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Zé Roberto Aguiar, who was totally free with the ball in the 69th minute. 69 minutes into the game, Afligidos's Zé Roberto Aguiar nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Artur Bueno made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 5-0. In the 82nd play minute Enrique Figueiredo came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Tostão Alagoano. 5-1. After some careless play in the Maracajau EC defense, Zé Roberto Aguiar kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Artur Bueno. The Maracajau EC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Artur Bueno should have stopped the shot. Adalberto Severo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Tostão Alagoano read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 94th minute of play.
