Lourenço Fonseca lost his temper 5 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. The referee gave SC Braga a penalty, 7 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Máximo Galvão, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of AKXE MADUREIRA's Mariano Esteves. 0-1. Henrique Fonsecas short, quick shot in the 11thth minute got Américo Brandão to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. With a little luck, SC Braga's Américo Brandão got control of the ball when Henrique Fonseca tried to sneak it across the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Henrique Fonseca in the 14th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Américo Brandão prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 15th minute AKXE MADUREIRA were awarded a corner. Aldo Coelho went to the cornerflag to take it. Mariano Esteves showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Máximo Galvão, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. Mariano Esteves took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Flávio Azenha, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. AKXE MADUREIRA's Mariano Esteves played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Zeferino Ferreira in the 20th minute of play. SC Braga's Flávio Azenha got a good chance for a goal in the 21st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Mariano Esteves showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Leal Leal, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. In the 39th minute, Máximo Galvão ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Mariano Esteves was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-4. 47 minutes into the match, AKXE MADUREIRA's goal looked a bit too open when Flávio Azenha came free, but Mariano Esteves reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-4 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The audience thought a goal was coming when Dércio Garcia got free with Mariano Esteves in the 58th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 67th minute, SC Braga's Zeferino Ferreira dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-5. Mariano Esteves made an important save on a dangerous shot by Flávio Azenha in the 74th minute. Mariano Esteves showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Leal Leal in the 78th minute of the match. Mariano Esteves was a little too slow when Máximo Galvão got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 79th minute. The score was now 0-6. SC Braga's Zeferino Ferreira got a good chance for a goal in the 82nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Miguel Meira fell near the penalty area in the 85th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. Mariano Esteves was left in no man's land by his defense there! SC Braga's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
