Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Fitz Heath started the match with the kick off. Kris Morris stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Kirk Hargreaves's shot from short distance in the 4th minute. In the 5th minute Dom Hughes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dane Gibbons saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jon Fenton charged in rather forcefully in the 6th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Jon Fenton the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 6th match minute, Broomhill was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jon Fenton to maneuver through the defense. Kris Morris took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kirk Hargreaves, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 11 minutes into the match, Wallsend AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Fitz Heath came free, but Dane Gibbons reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Wallsend AFC's Ted Hilton shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 13th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Kris Morris but with some difficulty. After a rather tough play, Broomhill's Len Marriot got a free kick in the 14th minute. After some careless play in the Broomhill defense, Andre Gayle kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Kris Morris. The Broomhill fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Kris Morris should have stopped the shot. After a defensive mix-up in Broomhill's zone, Kirk Hargreaves stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Kris Morris came out of the goal and Kirk Hargreaves tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Kris Morris showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kirk Hargreaves in the 23rd minute of the match. In the 26th minute of the match Wallsend AFC got a corner. Broomhill's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Ted Hilton ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner ended in Ted Hilton almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Broomhill's Kris Morris did a great save. After 34 played minutes, Wallsend AFC's Robert Smikle shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Kris Morris came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Wallsend AFC reached it. 37 minutes into the game, Vince Graydon was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Wallsend AFC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Broomhill the free kick. After a rather tough play, Wallsend AFC's Vince Graydon got a free kick in the 37th minute. A hard shot 39 in the game by Andre Gayle from a close distance when the talented Kris Morris managed to make a qualified save. Broomhill's players were relieved. After 40 minutes, Colin Legg mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Broomhill and the Wallsend AFC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 40th minute, Colin Legg hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 42ndth minute of the game Kirk Hargreaves who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Broomhill's Kris Morris was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Andre Gayle sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Wallsend AFC's Andre Gayle got a good chance for a goal in the 48th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Fitz Heath in the 56th minute of play forced Wallsend AFC's goalkeeper Dane Gibbons to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 57 minutes into the game, Len Marriot was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. After having played for 67 minutes, Fitz Heath managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Broomhill's supporters crossed their fingers, but Fitz Heath was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The supporters of Broomhill booed when Wallsend AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 72 match minutes in a wonderful position. Steve Fenton didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 76th minute, Fitz Heath hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Kris Morris showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kirk Hargreaves, who was totally free with the ball in the 77th minute. Kirk Hargreaves sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kirk Hargreaves in the 88th minute of play forced Broomhill's goalkeeper Kris Morris to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Fitz Heath came up free with the goalie in the 90th minute, the Broomhill fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Fitz Heath couldn't finish the play. After 91 played minutes Wallsend AFC got a freekick which was hit by Steve Fenton. After a defensive mix-up in Wallsend AFC's zone, Fitz Heath stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Dane Gibbons came out of the goal and Fitz Heath tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.
