Bryan Birch fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Walter Endean having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Halesworth's Lennie Broadhurst got a free kick in the 10th minute. When Ruben Nevin came up free with the goalie in the 11th minute, the Holy Smoke fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ruben Nevin couldn't finish the play. Holy Smoke's Joe Story-Moore played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lennie Broadhurst in the 15th minute of play. Harvey Wrigley scored 0-1 in the 18th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Joe Story-Moore, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Joe Story-Moore showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Harvey Wrigley, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. Pat Carter struck a weak shot in the 25th minute. Joe Story-Moore didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Halesworth. Lennie Broadhurst blasted a shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Joe Story-Moore having to make a save. In the 35th minute Harvey Wrigley shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Joe Story-Moore saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Holy Smoke's Joe Story-Moore played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dean Kingston in the 36th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Holy Smoke's zone, Dean Kingston stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Joe Story-Moore came out of the goal and Dean Kingston tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A sloppy throw-in by Hayden Bowland in the 42nd minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Halesworth's Lennie Broadhurst. After 43 minutes of play, Halesworth's Dean Kingston made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Joe Story-Moore was left in no man's land by his defense there! Tommy Baldwin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Walter Endean having to interfere. After the first half Halesworth were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Harvey Wrigley stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Halesworth's Walter Endean played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jack Cheeseman in the 51st minute of play. A collision led to Halesworth getting a freekick after 53 minutes play. Harvey Wrigley hit a great ball. Holy Smoke's Bryan Birch got a good chance for a goal in the 64th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Dean Kingston hit a great freekick 66 minutes into the match. A collision led to Holy Smoke getting a freekick after 67 minutes play. Tommy Baldwin hit a great ball. Holy Smoke's Joe Story-Moore proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 72nd minute of the match, managed to save Holy Smoke from getting a goal against them. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bryan Birch in the 76th minute of play forced Halesworth's goalkeeper Walter Endean to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 80th minute, Lennie Broadhurst hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 82 minutes into the match, Bryan Birch notched a goal, 2-2, to the right of Halesworth's Walter Endean. Walter Endean was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Jo Reeve during the 86th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Holy Smoke getting a freekick after 86 minutes play. Jo Reeve hit a great ball. After 91 played minutes Dean Kingston rounded Holy Smoke's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 2-3. An unexpectedly hard shot by Harvey Wrigley in the 96th minute of play forced Holy Smoke's goalkeeper Joe Story-Moore to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The Halesworth players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
