After 17 played minutes, fc-augustin's Lester Lammers shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Eberhard Meier came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in fc-augustin reached it. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Frederik Walde in the 20th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Timm Abernett prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Frederik Walde had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. fc-augustin's Timm Abernett played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Frederik Walde in the 23rd minute of play. The supporters of FC Gerolstein booed when fc-augustin was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lee Hertl didn't get a good kick on the ball. Frederik Walde fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Timm Abernett having to interfere. Fritz Rudolf Bieling blasted a shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Eberhard Meier having to make a save. Viktor Schneidewind might have been able to make a better finish in the 37th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Timm Abernett. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Viktor Schneidewind ran back to his position shaking his head. 41 minutes into the match, fc-augustin's goalkeeper Timm Abernett had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Karl-Georg Bartels. If Fritz Rudolf Bieling had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Frederik Walde was the one to do the kick off. Manfred Lazarus's late challenge caught a FC Gerolstein's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Manfred Lazarus helped the player get up and apologised. Manfred Lazarus hit a great freekick 56 minutes into the match. In the 58th minute, Viktor Schneidewind hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Donny Jüngling fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Timm Abernett having to interfere. When the match had gone on for 79 minutes, Manfred Lazarus took a quick shot and it went in 0-1 without a chance for Eberhard Meier to make any attempt to save it. The fc-augustin supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing fc-augustin would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
