The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The supporters of Kalakyula booed when FC OTEPÄÄ was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 5 match minutes in a wonderful position. Allar Vaarikas didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 10th minute Uudo Halman shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ernst Viru saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 11 played minutes Kalakyula got a freekick which was hit by Allar Ülend. If Hugo Enkvist had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. If Jürgen Trummi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. Ernst Viru showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Uudo Halman in the 39th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Uudo Halman in the 41st minute of play forced Kalakyula's goalkeeper Ernst Viru to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Kalakyula's Ernst Viru proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 44th minute of the match, managed to save Kalakyula from getting a goal against them. Ernst Viru made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Uudo Halman in the 46th minute of play. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Hugo Enkvist made a kick off. 0-2 became the score in the 52nd minute when Hugo Enkvist elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 55th minute, Uudo Halman managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC OTEPÄÄ's supporters rose to their feet, but Uudo Halman was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ernst Viru breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Markus Vollmer showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hugo Enkvist in the 59th minute of the match. If Hugo Enkvist had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 69th minute, Allar Ülend hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ernst Viru took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Uudo Halman, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 78th minute, Uudo Halman managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC OTEPÄÄ's supporters rose to their feet, but Uudo Halman was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ernst Viru breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Andrus Kiik fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Markus Vollmer having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Allar Vaarikas during the 83rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 83rd minute, one of FC OTEPÄÄ:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for FC OTEPÄÄ. Arto Voit received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 95th minute. Ernst Viru tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 98th minute Hugo Enkvist shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Markus Vollmer saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The Kalakyula supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Kalakyula would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
