After 27 played minutes Jovens Democratas MZC got a freekick which was hit by Percival Mangueira. 29 minutes into the match, SAS's goal looked a bit too open when Jefferson Teixeira came free, but Elias Vieira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. SAS's Elias Vieira played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Otávio Montenegro in the 32nd minute of play. Otávio Montenegro spun around in front of the goal 32 minutes in the game, and got away a shot that, to his disappointment, went to the left of SAS's goal. Elias Vieira made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Giuseppe Negri in the 35th minute of play. Giuseppe Negri fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Elias Vieira having to interfere. Jefferson Teixeira took the ball and in the 38 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Elias Vieira. Elias Vieira dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-3. A collision led to Jovens Democratas MZC getting a freekick after 40 minutes play. Percival Mangueira hit a great ball. Elias Vieira made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Giuseppe Negri in the 45th minute of play. 47 minutes into the match, SAS's goal looked a bit too open when Giuseppe Negri came free, but Elias Vieira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-3 lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Antônio Carlos Machado made a kick off. In the 54th match minute, Jovens Democratas MZC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Zé Augusto Tinoco to maneuver through the defense. SAS's Elias Vieira proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 56th minute of the match, managed to save SAS from getting a goal against them. Jefferson Teixeira could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 58th minute of the match, but Elias Vieira made a huge save. After a defensive mix-up in SAS's zone, Mário de Queirós stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Elias Vieira came out of the goal and Mário de Queirós tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Elias Vieira took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Giuseppe Negri, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Jovens Democratas MZC made a substitution. Erasmo Lucas replaced Luís Paulo Domingues. Giuseppe Negri could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 70th minute of the match, but Elias Vieira made a huge save. Elias Vieira made an important save on a dangerous shot by Jefferson Teixeira in the 79th minute. Giuseppe Negri got in the 81st a clear chance and fired away a hard shot against goal, but Elias Vieira handled the situation perfectly and made a save by the crossbar. Emanuel Branco struck a weak shot in the 93rd minute. Elias Vieira didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Jovens Democratas MZC. An unexpectedly hard shot by Emanuel Branco in the 95th minute of play forced SAS's goalkeeper Elias Vieira to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jovens Democratas MZC's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
