The supporters of Garanhão do SUL booed when SAS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sandrinho Valle didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 19th match minute, Garanhão do SUL was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cássio Estrada to maneuver through the defense. 21 minutes into the match, Garanhão do SUL's goal looked a bit too open when Edgar Salles came free, but Alex Frasca reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The tension between the Garanhão do SUL and the SAS players grew even worse after the yellow card. Edgar Costa hit a great freekick 46 minutes into the match. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The wind increased when Edgar Costa made the kick off in the second half. Glauco Baiano took the ball and in the 51 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Alex Frasca. A nice corner shot did that Edgar Salles got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Alex Frasca quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Garanhão do SUL's Alex Frasca played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hélder Nóbrega in the 59th minute of play. If Luiz Guilherme Paraense had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Garanhão do SUL's Eusébio Mesquita quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Nilmar de Queiroz, made in the 90th minute of the game. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. SAS had played much better football throughout.
