An unexpectedly hard shot by Luiz Fernando Sarmento in the 9th minute of play forced Heraclito AD's goalkeeper Andrézinho Velasco to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Noel de Godoi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Andrézinho Velasco showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luiz Fernando Sarmento, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. A collision led to Heraclito AD getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. Nico Soares hit a great ball. When Hílton Simões came up free with the goalie in the 28th minute, the Heraclito AD fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Hílton Simões couldn't finish the play. In the 29th match minute, Pinheiros FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Humberto Pitta to maneuver through the defense. Pinheiros FC's Iuri Branco proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 31st minute of the match, managed to save Pinheiros FC from getting a goal against them. After a rather tough play, Pinheiros FC's Durvalino Mineiro got a free kick in the 33rd minute. After a defensive mix-up in Pinheiros FC's zone, Hílton Simões stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Iuri Branco came out of the goal and Hílton Simões tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 41st play minute Hílton Simões came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Iuri Branco. 1-0. If Anselmo Reis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. A collision led to Pinheiros FC getting a freekick after 46 minutes play. Humberto Pitta hit a great ball. After some careless play in the Pinheiros FC defense, Hílton Simões kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Iuri Branco. The Pinheiros FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Iuri Branco should have stopped the shot. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Anselmo Reis to strike the kick off in the second half. 53 minutes into the match, Heraclito AD's goal looked a bit too open when Luiz Fernando Sarmento came free, but Andrézinho Velasco reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 71st minute Hílton Simões shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Iuri Branco saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Andrézinho Velasco made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luiz Fernando Sarmento in the 72nd minute of play.
