Wolf-Rüdiger Anschütz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ruslan Cociu, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. After having played for 25 minutes, Ruslan Cociu managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Moldova's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ruslan Cociu was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Cornel Jalbã made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Otfried Streitenbürger in the 29th minute of play. Wolf-Rüdiger Anschütz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cornel Ciocan in the 31st minute of play. Moldova's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Petru Corjan in the 35th minute. The corner led Moldova's Nicu Ureche to fire away a dangerous shot which Wolf-Rüdiger Anschütz despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Nicu Ureche took the ball and in the 36 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Wolf-Rüdiger Anschütz. Wolf-Rüdiger Anschütz dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Wolf-Rüdiger Anschütz stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Cornel Ciocan's shot from short distance in the 38th minute. In the 41st match minute, Germany was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tobias Spielvogel to maneuver through the defense. Wolf-Rüdiger Anschütz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cornel Ciocan, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute. After the first half Moldova were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

After 60 played minutes Germany got a freekick which was hit by Otfried Streitenbürger. Germany made a substitution. Timo Heller replaced Reiko Klingenberg. Otfried Streitenbürger kicked well hit freekick during the 61st minute of the match. 63 minutes into the match, Germany's goal looked a bit too open when Cornel Ciocan came free, but Wolf-Rüdiger Anschütz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Wolf-Rüdiger Anschütz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cornel Ciocan in the 65th minute of the match. In the 74thth minute of the game Cornel Ciocan who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Germany's Wolf-Rüdiger Anschütz was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Cornel Jalbã made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Umberto Galeski in the 76th minute of play. With an all-out effort, Moldova's Wolf-Rüdiger Anschütz threw himself towards the right post 77 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Ruslan Cociu, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. 79 minutes into the game, Umberto Galeski cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Cornel Jalbã was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 82nd minute Timo Heller shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cornel Jalbã saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Germany booed when Moldova was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 83 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gicu Cãldare didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Moldova had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
