Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Klinsmann Albertis in the 12th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Benji Villalobos prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Josue Molina sent away a hard shot on goal in the 16th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 19 minutes, Josue Molina made it 0-2 with a short kick to the right side. U21 Malta's Keith Maistre tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. The supporters of U21 Malta booed when U21 El Salvador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mauro Alas didn't get a good kick on the ball. Benji Villalobos showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Klinsmann Albertis, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. Klinsmann Albertis recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 44th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After the first half U21 El Salvador were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Henry Zelaya was the one to do the kick off. U21 El Salvador were awarded a corner in the 53th minute after U21 Malta's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Victor Villarreal took the corner. A nice corner shot did that Victor Villarreal got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Keith Maistre quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. The supporters of U21 El Salvador booed when U21 Malta was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 56 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gerard Crockford didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 62nd minute, Alfredo Lovo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After having played for 66 minutes, Henry Zelaya managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. U21 El Salvador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Henry Zelaya was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Henry Zelaya in the 69th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Keith Maistre saved U21 Malta from getting behind. Henry Zelaya's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Keith Maistre read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 72nd minute of play. Josue Molinas short, quick shot in the 73rdth minute got Keith Maistre to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. 79 minutes into the match, U21 Malta's goalkeeper Keith Maistre had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Henry Zelaya. U21 Malta made a substitution. Gabriel Hamilton replaced Klinsmann Albertis. After a rather tough play, U21 El Salvador's Victor Villarreal got a free kick in the 82nd minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Carlos Cousin in the 89th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Benji Villalobos prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Benji Villalobos showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Carlos Cousin, who was totally free with the ball in the 92nd minute. 93 minutes into the game, U21 Malta's Gabriel Hamilton nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Benji Villalobos made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-3. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. U21 El Salvador had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
