After the first half Belo Academy were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Jeferson Proença received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 52nd minute. The referee felt a red card was in order, 57 minutes into the game, when Ferenc Szántó put in a rough tackle. In the 57th minute, one of Belo Academy:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Belo Academy. A A Arizona were awarded a corner in the 60th minute after Belo Academy's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Celso Maciel took the corner. A A Arizona's Celso Maciel was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Paulo Renato Dracena in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. After 62 played minutes A A Arizona got a freekick which was hit by Haroldo Severo. Telmo Esteves was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 63 minutes into the match. After 63 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for A A Arizona! A A Arizona:s Evandro Paulista showed great skill when he stopped Jeferson Proença:s penalty. 66 minutes into the game, Jeferson Proença was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Belo Academy's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave A A Arizona the free kick. The supporters of A A Arizona booed when Belo Academy was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 66 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jeferson Proença didn't get a good kick on the ball. Celso Maciel fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Paulo Renato Dracena having to interfere.
