The Devoto club social fans' excitement grew in the 34th match minute when Devoto club social's Desiderio Galsino looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-4 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Marseille's supporters crossed their fingers, but Hocine Croix was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Pavel Chivu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cyprien Auguste in the 46th minute of play. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-5.

Cyrille Melon kicked well hit freekick during the 56th minute of the match. 59 minutes into the match, Devoto club social's goal looked a bit too open when Cyprien Auguste came free, but Pavel Chivu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Pavel Chivu made a fantastic save in the 60th minute, when Cyrille Melon sent off a good shot on target. 60 minutes into the match, Devoto club social's goalkeeper Pavel Chivu had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Cyrille Melon. R.C. Marseille's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
