Dănuț Roman who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 14thth minute tested the skills of Dragos Enicov when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Nicodim Zogreanu's late challenge caught a U21 Moldova's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Nicodim Zogreanu helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, U21 Romania's Nicodim Zogreanu got a free kick in the 26th minute. After 28 minutes, Daddy Gol mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the U21 Romania and the U21 Moldova players grew even worse after the yellow card. Daddy Gol kicked well hit freekick during the 28th minute of the match. It was beautiful to see U21 Moldova's Mircea Bivol in action when he in the 30th minute dribbled his way through a couple of opponents and the fired away a shot from almost standing still. First the ball seemed to get in, but turned out to be on the outside of the net. A great chance! Ilie Cazacu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gigel Zăvoiu having to interfere. Gigel Zăvoiu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ilie Cazacu in the 35th minute of the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Maxim Tâbârnã during the 43rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 43rd minute, Maxim Tâbârnã hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Leonard Alexiu kicked well hit freekick during the 45th minute of the match. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

U21 Moldova made a substitution. Strong Junel replaced Marius Cazacu. The wind increased when Dănuț Roman made the kick off in the second half. Dragos Enicov took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nicodim Zogreanu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 71st minute Dănuț Roman shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dragos Enicov saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gigel Zăvoiu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sandu Musteatã in the 72nd minute of play. U21 Romania's Mădălin Aldescu was substituted for Kylian Mbappè. U21 Moldova made a substitution. Emil Scobioalã replaced Mesut Özil. U21 Romania's Nichifor Arșanu was substituted for Costel Damian. U21 Romania's Daddy Gol quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Mircea Bivol, made in the 78th minute of the game. In the 79th match minute, U21 Romania was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nicodim Zogreanu to maneuver through the defense. In the 82ndth minute of the game Nicodim Zogreanu who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but U21 Moldova's Dragos Enicov was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 87th minute, Dănuț Roman managed to get in a good position for a shot. U21 Romania's supporters rose to their feet, but Dănuț Roman was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Dragos Enicov breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 96th minute the ball was on its way in behind U21 Moldova's goalkeeper Dragos Enicov, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar.
